With clients representing most of the major national sports leagues (MLB, NHL, NFL, NBA, MLS in addition to 90% of EPL), teams trust Fortress for its first-and-best-in class technology that manages venue access, loyalty programs, stored value, and consumer analytics.
Position Summary: Fortress US is seeking a Director of Business Development who will passionately and proactively pursue new prospects and revenue; identify and qualify opportunities; and manage the sales process from inception to execution.
Reporting to the Senior VP, Client Strategy, this role will collaborate closely with other areas of the enterprise. Our ideal candidate is a self-driven salesperson who loves to be challenged, takes initiative and excels in a fast-paced environment. Quantum Sports + Entertainment is conducting the search. The position is remote, however preference will be given to candidates located in the Washington D.C. metro area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Identify, qualify, and develop a strong pipeline of new business opportunities to established goals.
• Manage all phases of the business development lifecycle to successful close (e.g., proposal development, scope construction, presentations).
• Drive and achieve revenue targets in line with overall company growth projections and goals on a quarterly and annual basis.
• Establish and maintain relationships at a senior level with prospective customers.
• Become intimately knowledgeable of prospective accounts and their business.
• Attend networking and other sports tech industry events on behalf of Fortress.
• Lead new business development and company growth with a focus in North America.
• Close new business deals and ensure a smooth transition for new clients with internal account management, technical and creative delivery teams.
• All other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Characteristics:
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in consultative selling for professional services.
• Relationships within the sports & entertainment industry strongly preferred.
• Possess a robust sales background with proven track record of success in professional team sports, large sports-related media companies, major sports/entertainment events and/or other related industries.
• A proven strategic thinker who will embrace the sales process in a fast-paced, results-driven, dynamic environment.
• Ability to execute agreed upon deliverables and over-deliver on potential success metrics.
• Ability to operate independently or as a member of the team and relate professionally with all levels of the organization.
• Effectively manages time and prioritizes responsibilities.
• Possess CRM experience with Salesforce or similar, preferred.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to build trust, persuade and effectively negotiate.
• Relationship builder, with a focus on long-term relationships.
• Ability to travel and work non-traditional hours as required.
• Must be legally authorized or able to obtain authorization to work in the US.
