• However, offer amount will be commensurate with candidate’s experience, education, skills, and training.

CSU CLASSIFICATION SALARY RANGE: $3,761 – $6,803

POSITION PURPOSE: Within Student Affairs, the Department of Athletics services the entire community and its alumni. It is responsible for creating an institutional culture that is supportive of students. The department provides leadership in the development of services and programs that enrich student life, extend, and enhance the academic experience, and contributes to an environment that encourages personal growth and development.

Under general supervision of the Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs, the Promotions and Game Day Specialist performs promotional planning and game day operations for athletic events and competitions. Work is complex, broad in scope and has significant impact on the success of events.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Promotional Planning and Gameday Operations

• Participate in the development of annual and multi-year marketing plans for all 16 athletic teams.
• Ensure proper planning and execution of all game day promotional activities, game day scripting, organizing presentations and groups, game day contests and entertainment, and managing in-game elements including spirit squads and pep band.
• Develop promotional materials and creative content and meet all established deadlines for concept, design, creation and distribution of marketing materials and advertisements.
• Coordinate promotional efforts with the athletic department’s third-party multimedia rights partner, ticket office, creative services and broadcasting staff, and communications staff to maximize revenue and corporate sponsor initiatives.

In-Event Operational Support

• Organize and execute front-end operations at home athletic events including but not limited to promotional giveaways to students and fans, large group outings and setup, ticketing support, etc.
• Perform game day set-up/take down and assist with facilities & equipment operations when needed.
• Train, lead, and manage student gameday workers to execute ticket and event-related functions while providing seamless customer service for all event patrons. Involvement in hiring process may also be required.
• Assist with special events within the athletics department.

Strategic Planning Assistance

• Assist with researching, planning, and implementation of innovative programs and projects.
• Work with other areas of the department, including marketing, communications, facility & event operations, coaching staffs, etc. to develop, plan, and execute both broad and narrow growth initiatives.

Record-Keeping, Reporting, & Organization

• Record detailed notes on promotional plans and budgets.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE – Equivalent to bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or another related field. Minimum two (2) years of related experience in marketing, sales, public relations, or related field.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES (SKA’s) –

• Ability to build and manage more sophisticated media contacts.
• Demonstrated ability to keep abreast of campus events and subject matter expertise in relation to current events to identify and capitalize on media opportunities that will promote the university and increase positive media coverage.
• Working knowledge of copyright and other applicable laws pertaining to publications and the media.
• Thorough knowledge of web communication techniques, vehicles, and formats.
• Ability to effectively use web technology to achieve communication goals.

• Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development.
• Must be able to work occasional holidays and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated successful work experience in fundraising or sales.
• Experience in Athletics ticket sales or development.
• Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: MEDIUM WORK – up to 40% of the activities involve sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking; lifting heavy weight objects limited to 50 pounds; may involve pushing and pulling objects within the weight limits.
